Colorado is famous for its outdoor recreation and vast mountain ranges. This trip, which loops from the western suburbs of Denver, up the face of the Front Range, to the rugged region of the Rockies and the Continental Divide, engulfs you in the scenery of several Colorado mountain ranges. Enjoy your drive on Peak-to-Peak Highway, dotted with campgrounds, parks, scenic overlooks, and old mining towns. Travel to the Eldora Mountain Ski Resort and Golden Gate Canyon State Park for excellent opportunities in outdoor recreation. Pass beneath the imposing east face of Longs Peak, flanked by Mount Meeker to the south and Mount Lady Washington to its north. Farther on, enter the Rocky Mountain National Park, a glacier-scoured landscape of massive mountains, lakes, forests, and rolling streams that straddles the Continental Divide.
