Corning’s glasswork, wine and beauty make it an attractive location for a getaway. The town is home to the Corning Museum of Glass, where more than 45,000 pieces make up the world’s largest glass collection. See sculptures, windows, and demonstrations, then make your own. Children can watch a glassmaker turn one of their drawings into a creation and adults can construct their own in a studio.

The Rockwell Museum of Art offers as much of a presentation with paintings and sculptures demonstrating western art. View paintings of the cowboys and Indians and sculptures of animals throughout three galleries. The Kids Rock area provides activities, scavenger hunts, drawing and games for younger visitors.

With its prime location in the Finger Lakes, Corning is surrounded by wineries with tours and tastings for visitors. Local vintners participate in festivals, fairs, famers markets and entertainment with events all year round. There are even a few breweries in the area as well.

Visit the Historic Gaffer District for shopping and dining, where you’ll find renowned architecture and over 100 local businesses. With three additional museums and food, art and antiques tours, there’s so much to see and do here. Get more ideas from Corning’s reviews.

Retired from Corning, now living in Florida. Always look forward to our summer visit to see family and also walk lovely Market Street and make several stops along the way for a hot dog(Jim's Texas Hot) - best in town and always have to have Aniello;s Pizza.when back home in Corning..

I work in downtown Corning and can't think of a better place to be. Market Street is so unique with its shopping, food, and historical buildings. CMOG in itself is amazing and nothing like it any where else.

I love that Corning doesn't feel like Anywhere USA. the unique shops, the family owned restaurants, the cool hands-on stuff like Hands-on Glass Studio and Soulshine Bead Shop make it fun. Throw in a relaxing massage at AgeLess or Steuben Professional or Interludes - what could be better than that!

I call Corning "the Napa (California) of the East" for its proximity to the wineries, its beautifully restored Market Street, and its cultural holdings. Within five square miles, Corning plays host to five art galleries (Atrium Gallery at Corning Community College, Exhibit A Contemporary Art, The Glass Menagerie Gallery, Spencer Hill Gallery, and West End Gallery), two art/cultural centers (The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and 171 Cedar Arts Center), and three museums (Corning Museum of Glass, Benjamin Patterson Inn Museum, and The Rockwell Museum), and an orchestra (The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes). What small town can boast that?!

I grew up in this town and moved away. After being away (and coming back to visit with family), I realized how great this town is. Market St is filled with many wonderful stores, restaurants, and bars. The Fingerlakes are at the least 20 min away, and with that, there are many, many wineries to visit. There are several larger museums in the area to visit, and some very beautiful places to view the wonderful scenery that is the Chemung Valley. In the summer, there are several festivals that are outdoors for all to enjoy. Corning is truly a wonderful town with so much to do!
